Shawarma spice mix is a classic Middle Eastern seasoning with a rich aroma and a warm, sweet and peppery flavour. This spice mix is ideal to use when creating the authentic Middle Eastern Shawarma wraps. Shawarma spice is also great for seasoning chicken, beef, fish and lamb, curries, crispy chickpeas, falafel, scrambled eggs, vegetables, and more!
Chicken Shawarma Wraps
In a bowl, mix 2 sliced chicken breasts with two tsp of Shawarma spice , 1.5 tsp vinegar, 1.5 tbsp olive oil, 1 to 1.5 cloves of crushed garlic and half of the juice from 1 lemon. Marinate in the fridge overnight.
In a separate bowl, mix the 150ml of tahini with 1.5 tbsp yogurt, quarter of a sliced cucumber, half of a sliced red onion, 2 tomatoes chopped, 1 to 1.5 crushed cloves of garlic and half of the remaining juice from the lemon.
In a heavy pan, cook the meat & marinade mixture until the chicken is fully cooked.
Now divide the tahini mixture and cooked meat between the flatbreads or wraps, sprinkle with some sumac (optional) roll up and enjoy.
