Description
Baharat, Arabic for “spice ” also known as Lebanese 7-spice, is an all-purpose aromatic sweet & smoky spice blend widely used in Middle Eastern cooking. Just a pinch of our blend will bring a little zest to any dish especially, lentil, pilaf and rice dishes. It can be used as a seasoning for meat, kofta’s, seafood and vegetables, as a dry rub or marinade. Use it in everything from burgers to lamb chops. Baharat also goes well with meaty Fish like Monkfish. It really compliments lamb, cutlets and even roast leg of lamb are improved greatly when the meat is dusted with Baharat and a little salt to taste. Allow to dry-marinate in the fridge for an hour before cooking.
For recipes using ground beef, mix about 1 tsp for every pound of ground beef.
Use it as a marinade for chicken and lamb. Add 1/2 cup of olive oil, 2 tsp of Baharat, 1 tbsp of lemon juice, and a pinch of salt to chicken or lamb and leave to marinate for 24 hours.
