Allspice berries also known as Whole Pimento, is often mistaken for a blend of spices but is so-named because of its rich, sweet scent & flavour reminiscent of spices such as cinnamon, cloves & ginger. It can be used in both sweet & savoury dishes.
For best flavour, crack or grind whole allspice berries when needed.
Add the berries to pickles, chutneys & marinades.
Add 4 to 6 berries to water when poaching fish.
Add them to your peppercorns in a grinder to add a delicious twist to your seasonings.
Mix equal amounts Whole Allspice with whole black or mixed peppercorns (black, pink, white or green) in a peppermill to create your own special fragrant spice blend.
