Description
Citric acid also known as Sour salt, is used as a natural preservative.
Use it in baking to improve the texture of cakes and breads such as sour dough and rye. Use in homemade cordials and jams, or to prevent discolouration in fruit salads and avocados. Simply sprinkle citric acid over homemade guacamole or cut apples to preserve their color and keep them looking fresh.
It can also be used as a substitute ingredient for other acids like lemon juice or vinegar due to its sour and slightly tart flavour.
It is often used to make sour candies, try mixing a small amount of citric acid with granulated sugar to make a sour sherbet powder.
