Crystallised ginger also known as Candied ginger is suitable for snacking & for use in baking, such as gingerbread, cakes & cookies.
If you want to up the ginger flavour add chopped crystallised ginger into cakes or use to decorate.
Chop & sprinkle over ice cream, yoghurt or use to garnish cocktails. Finely chop & sprinkle onto fruit salad for a spicy, zesty flavour. Add to your morning coffee or hot tea.
Historically Crystallised Ginger has been used as a remedy for stomach upsets, as a treatment for seasickness & linked with curing morning sickness in expectant mums.
For a super sumptuous snack take a 150g bar of 80% dark chocolate, break into a heat proof bowl and melt over a pan of boiling water until fully melted. Take the whole chunks of crystallised ginger, dunk into the melted chocolate then place onto grease proof paper to cool.
